Abstract

In this essay I will deal about some elements of Santi Romano's thought. In particular I will focus on his realist formalism and on his legal pluralism. Then I will reflect on Romano's concepts of reality and myth. These theoretical issues will be interpreted from a philosophical perspective, through the idea of the Institutional turn (Esposito). Moving from the debate between Foucault and Derrida about Descartes as a sort of détour, Romano's relationship with myth and his formalism will be reconsidered. Lastly, using the relationship between institution and myth and the one between theory and biography, I will try to reflect about Romano's pluralism from an unusual point of view.
